COASTAL WALKING BREAK – June 17-19 (Tuesday-Thursday)
I am organising this association event to celebrate the June publication of my new book Walking the Brittany Coast (Vol 2 : Morlaix to Benodet). Special offer for those coming on this holiday. (Or Vol 1: Mont St-Michel to Morlaix by Judy Smith if you prefer). Or neither. Or both!

ROUTE
Our small group will be walking on the Crozon peninsula from Camaret to L’Aber (or on to Pentrez, if we are feeling very fit) in the Baie de Douarnenez over three days, seeing the very best coastal scenery in Brittany. The coastal path varies greatly in quality and there will be plenty of steep ups and downs along the cliffs as well as a lot of fairly level beach or headland. The distance is not great (less than 20kms a day) but parts (Day 2) will be demanding. We will not be hurrying! Regular stops and plenty of interesting things to see along the way; opportunity to swim on last day.
We start in the port of Camaret with its unusual sillon and ochre-coloured Tour Vauban, and continue past the tragic ruin of the Manoir de Coecilian and neolithic alignments of Lagatjar. We pass the Pointe de Penhir with its Resistance memorial and continue via the vast sands of Kerloc’h to the extraordinary natural formation of the Château de Dinan. The Iron Age fortifications and neolithic remains of Lostmarc’h are the highlight of the route to the Cap de la Chèvre. From there we pass the ancient fortifications of Morgat, an attractive seaside resort, to continue along the sandy reaches of the Baie de Douarnenez.

ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation will be in a gîte d’étape, where we will also have evening meals in the small restaurant. Breakfast and picnic lunches provided on Days 2 and 3. Food will be plentiful! Drinks not included in cost.
Rooms are very basic and shared. The bathroom is downstairs below the bedrooms, and contains two small shower rooms, two basins and one toilet.
You will need to bring a sleeping bag or duvet for the bed. Under-sheet and cushion-type pillow provided. Sheets and blankets can be hired at small extra cost (350). Your luggage will be transported for you from Camaret, so you need only carry your lunch, water, binoculars, etc. when walking. Please bring a picnic lunch for first day. At the end of Day 1 and beginning of Day 2, we will be transported a short distance by car (courtesy of gite-owner).
