1. Opposite the end of the D119, enter the forest and bear right to a display of cross-sections of forest trees. Continue past this and bear left up the path.
2. At a track bear right and follow it across a Roman road. Continue across another broad track and past a lake on the left. Climb to a junction of tracks and bear left.
3. After a few hundred metres, take the alley of birch trees on the right, signed ‘Allée Couverte 300m’. Continue ahead from the end of the avenue on a path winding through the trees, soon arriving at the alley grave (photo).
4. Retrace your steps back along the avenue and turn right on the track. Follow this down, ignoring other tracks joining, until a T-junction with another broad track.
5. Turn left here and follow the track up to the junction where you crossed earlier. Turn right here and follow the track back to the Roman road.
6. Cross and continue ahead. Do not fork left down the path that you came up earlier, but continue on the track until a reconstruction of a cobbler’s cabin (sabottier)
7. Turn left here to return to the D11 / D119 junction.
