WHAT IS WALKING MEDITATION ?

“The miracle is not to walk on water – the miracle is to walk on the green earth, dwelling deeply in the present moment and feeling truly alive"      Thich Nhat Hanh

Walking meditation is a form of deep relaxation practice and connection with the present moment. Gentle walking and mindful breathing slow down the mind: the focus on breath keeps the rush of everyday thoughts at bay.

Walking meditation is about silent communication with the earth, nature and our companions. There is no aim or destination, no need to arrive or achieve, only to BE PRESENT. Breathing deeply, being attuned to our senses and appreciating the beauty of nature are the keys to living in the present moment.

Walking meditation is a positive experience, a chance to relax, to enjoy the company of others and to feel close to the gifts of Nature.

Whether you have previous meditation experience or not, you are invited to share the happy silence and join our Walking Meditation on May 24th.

There will be two parts to the Walking Meditation:

An ‘infinity’ walk around a large standing stone (menhir).

A short linear woodland walk.

Light refreshments will be available between and after the two walks.

Each will last about 20-30 minutes. You can stop walking whenever you wish: space to rest quietly will be available.

We ask that all participants respect the principle of SILENCE during the meditation.

Full details will be provided for participants on arrival.

There is no entrance fee, but donations are requested.

ON THE DAY

Please arrive between 2 and 2.15pm on Tuesday 24th May.

Loose comfortable clothing is advised. Shoes optional!

The venue is the House of the Menhir in the hamlet of Le Cloitre near Huelgoat.

Directions

The easiest approach is from the main Carhaix/Morlaix road (D764). If coming from the north ignore the turning on the left to Huelgoat and continue uphill. After passing under the second bridge, turn first left onto a minor road and bear left immediately uphill.

If coming from the Carhaix direction, ignore the Huelgoat turnings on the right and turn right before the first bridge as the road rises, and bear left immediately uphill.

Both: at the top turn right and then left soon after. The house is immediately on the right. Turn into the drive for parking.

Information will be provided on arrival.

The beginning of Silent Meditation will be marked by a bell at 2.30pm.
