Venue: near Carno�t, very close to the valley of the Saints. THE BRETON SAINTS They are still of great significance in Brittany and ever-present in the landscape. Enhance your understanding with this study day answering all the basic questions � who, when, why, how, etc. � and looking at the most important individual saints, as well as the historical evidence and legendary traditions. Visual and documentary evidence supplied, discussion and interpretation during the day. Places limited, so advance booking and payment essential. Course Tutor The writer Wendy Mewes is also an experienced guide, teacher and course presenter. The author of thirteen books about Brittany, including Discovering the History of Brittany (2006), Walking the Brittany Coast and a recently updated guide to the Nantes-Brest Canal, she has also broadcast a radio series about the history of Brittany for AIKB community radio and has been filmed for French TV for her work on the Nantes-Brest canal. Her tourist guide to Brittany in the famous Footprint series came out in 2010 and Legends of Brittany appeared in April 2012, followed by two short tourist guides to Huelgoat and the Monts d'Arr�e. A major recent work - Brittany, a cultural history � was published by Signal Books in their Landscapes of the Imagination series in 2014. Latest books are Walks in Finistere, a new collection (May 2016), and Spirit of Place in Finist�re (January 2017). She has been teaching and writing about history for thirty-five years. |
